Falling like a bird

2009-2011

Falling Like A Bird, a music-theatre lullaby, was a poetic and delicate exploration of risk taking, navigating the unknown, and encountering dis/grace, com/passion and weight/lessness. Inspired by the writings of French feminist philosopher Hélène Cixous, it also paid homage to Judith Wright’s collection of poems, “Birds”. The 90-minute work was developed over a three year period by a national ensemble of artists that included Dawn Albinger, Margaret Cameron, Nikki Heywood, Linsey Pollak, Julie Robson, Annette Tesoriero, Lisa Businovski and Sam James. The group worked intensively in the natural landscapes of Albury-Wodonga and Springbrook to make the performance.
